Finding 'The One'...
Charlotte and Andy set out to find their perfect venue with a clear idea in mind for the type of wedding they wanted:
We wanted a simple elegant wedding near the beach. The Grand fit that perfectly for us as it has beautiful interiors, wonderful staff and the most delicious food right across from the beach.
Opting for a pastel palette with pops of gold created a modern, relaxed feel with some DIY touches:
I designed the invitations using a floral design I purchased from Etsy and then had them printed locally.
Flowers were really important and I decided on slightly wild looking bouquets and arrangements with gorgeous pink and peach coloured roses with trailing Ivy.
Our cake was made by Andy’s Mum who is just the best and so incredibly talented. I gave her a photo from Pinterest and off she went!
The dress was a bit of a last minute purchase and I had to choose off the rail but it turned out to be absolutely stunning with a few alterations of the original design. The bridesmaid dresses were bought from ASOS and we loved the lace cap sleeves which were similar to mine.
I chose Rachel Simpson shoes and a gold and pearl Untamed Petals hair vine.
It's all about the personal touches...
Individual elements and personal details are what really make a wedding special, a key focus for Charlotte & Andy:
We met at school when we were 13 years old one and our first conversation was about our mutual love of the tv show Friends. It’s still on our tv all the time at home now too so we chose our table names after the episodes and used our own photos that related to the names. Our cake topper was also ‘he’s her lobster’.
We chose our photo booth as it had a vintage look and our guests glued in the second print in a guest book for us with little messages. Some of the photos are absolutely hilarious and it’s a nice little reminder of the day. We did the sweets buffet ourselves because who doesn’t love a sweets buffet!

Choosing reliable, supportive suppliers can make such a difference in the run up to your Big Day as well as on the day itself:
We booked our photographer Sara Reeve after our engagement as we knew we wanted the specific date – two years after we got engaged. Luckily she was free as I couldn’t have imagined having anyone else with us on the day – Sara is literally the nicest person we have ever met. The photos are light, airy and natural looking which was important to us.
Food was important to us as I’m a fussy eater so I needed something I would eat and enjoy but would also be liked by our guests. We went for a traditional Sunday Roast with beef and fish and chips which all went down wonderfully with our guests – one even said it was the best wedding food she’s ever had.
Another priority booking was our band Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes who are just fantastic. The dancefloor was full all night with such great music but our friend is in the band so we are a bit biased – he did get the night off though to attend the wedding!
It's always wonderful to look back at your Big Day and remember the bits that made you laugh, made you cry and made you dance...
My favourite part of the day was Andy’s speech as it was just hilarious but also so sweet at the same time. Another wonderful moment was seeing our son dressed up in his little shirt and bow tie, he was so cute but very noisy on the day. My top tip would be to book a great photographer as these are the memories that will last and seeing the day from other viewpoints is fun afterwards.
