The Grand Brighton welcomed guests for the Brighton and Hove Hotelier Awards (BHHA)

 

The Grand Brighton welcomed guests for the Brighton and Hove Hotelier Awards (BHHA) 2018 last night (Monday 26 November), in what was the ceremony’s fifth consecutive year.

The evening saw accommodation providers across the city recognised for their outstanding achievements in hospitality, in the iconic setting of The Grand hotel. The evening began with a drinks reception where guests enjoyed drinks from Unity Wines, before Justin Manning, Chair of the BHHA, took to the stage for an introduction. Guests then had the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes as part of a Charity raffle including dinner for two in GB1 and concert tickets to the Brighton Centre, with all proceeds donated to mental health charity Mind Brighton & Hove.

Then for the main event – the awards ceremony, compered by Nicola Hume. Taking home the winning accolades on the night were:

 

  • The Old Ship Hotel – Best Breakfast Award

  • Jurys Inn Brighton – Warmest Welcome

  • Dave Rumble, Hilton Brighton Metropole – Unsung Hero/Heroine

  • Kurt Cutajar, Hilton Brighton Metropole – Ambassador for Best Customer Service Experience

  • Amy Leatham, The Grand Brighton – Outstanding Manager of the Year

  • My Brighton Hotel – Property of the Year (branded)

  • SILVER: Number 14, GOLD: No.27 – BHHA Executive Committee Award – Brighton’s Best Kept Secret – Bed & Breakfast

  • SILVER: Drakes Brighton, GOLD: Blanch House – BHHA Executive Committee Award – Brighton’s Best Kept Secret – Hotel

 

Guests then celebrated to live music from Will Mavin Music and DJ Paul Budd (Unity Talent).

Andrew Mosley, general manager at The Grand Brighton said: ““We thoroughly enjoyed hosting what is a fantastic celebration of Brighton’s hospitality industry and were thrilled to see Amy receive the award for Outstanding Manager of the Year. Amy is a highly valued member of the team here at the hotel and the award is so well deserved. Amy has performed tremendously throughout a challenging time at the hotel during our façade restoration and knowing Amy as I do she will likely dedicate this award to her team who have stood by her side and thrived throughout this time, recently securing a MiaList Team of the Year Award. With our beautifully restored façade now unveiled I am delighted that Amy and her team can move forward into 2019 for what promises to be an exciting year!”
