The Grand Brighton holds it's title as the best employer in UK events industry with award-winning engagement programme

We're delighted to announce that we have won our second award in employee excellence this year, claiming the top prize for “Best Employee Engagement Programme” from the Caterer.com’s People Awards on 20 September 2019. This amazing win comes just a couple of months we were crowned the nation’s best place to work in hospitality with the ‘Best Employer UK Catey 2019’ by The Caterer in July. 

 

The award is given to employers in the events and hospitality sector who successfully improve employee engagement levels, and demonstrate measurable value back to the business including a positive impact on employee retention, customer satisfaction, productivity and costs.

 

The winning employee engagement initiatives here at The Grand Brighton include:

  • Communication platforms that break barriers 

Our inspirational People Team have moved away from un-read staff posters, social media pages and multiple organisation Whatsapp groups to one unified online platform, ENGAGE - an app providing the missing link to multi-department company communication. Now, employees are able to post thoughts and ideas on business improvements with the whole organisation ensuring all employee voices are heard.

  • Recognition through a hierarchal-free thanks culture 

We've taken our recognition and incentive scheme online with the MO app, where employees are encouraged to recognise all great “mo”ments around the business by sharing their thanks with each other across the platform. 

 

Along with a thank you, employees are recognised with “Grands” for living values and delivering exceptional hospitality, which can be exchanged for cash payments, cinema tickets, theme park passes and hotel experiences. Every six months, employees with enough “Grands” will be entered into a prize draw to win an all expenses paid trip, with previous destinations including Amsterdam and St Tropez! 

  • A benefits package for everyone

Whether it’s paid days off to volunteer or free health assessments, the flexible benefits package developed by our People Team cover all the bases. Alongside market competitive salaries sit a refer a friend scheme, discounts app with Perkbox, enhanced parental leave and family friendly pay salary sacrifice schemes among other company benefits. 

And the benefits of such incentives are clear: since we moved away from the De Vere portfolio of 50 hotels back in 2014, reinstating our status as an independent property, we has seen have seen overall employee engagement reach 90% (an increase from 82%) a direct correlation to increases in customer satisfaction (NPS score of 58% - an all time high).
