Five of Brighton’s top chefs gathered together to host a festive feast at The Grand Brighton on Wednesday 20 November in support of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, raising over £15,000 for charity.
The event was the third charity Brighton Chef’s Table (BCT) event hosted at The Grand, where a total of £59,000 has since been raised for local charitable causes. This year, 88 guests enjoyed a glass of Ridgeview English Sparkling on arrival, before sitting down for a five-course tasting menu created by some of the city’s most acclaimed chefs;

With hints of Christmas theming the dishes, each course was cooked by a different chef. David Marrow kicked off his first BCT event with an amusé of mushrooms cooked three ways, followed by an exquisite starter of pate, rhubarb and gingerbread by Alan White which was served with a glass of Alsace Gewürztraminer provided by wine supplier, Matthew Clark.
The following mains included a fish course of basil, cod and taramasalata by Duncan Ray (also a newcomer to BCT), and Sussex sirloin beef and pickled onions from Steven Edwards. The sweet treat topping off the culinary affair was provided by Kenny Tutt, with his clementine and chocolate fondant served with Frangelico gelato.
The evening of fine dining culminated in a live charity auction where guests took home some once-in-a-lifetime prizes including: private dining experiences with Alan White, David Marrow and Steven Edwards; a day at cooking school with Kenny Tutt; and a private lunch at The Little Fish Market in Hove with Duncan Ray.

Every year that we’ve hosted has been unique, but one thing always stays the same - the food is better and better every year and it’s a great opportunity for Brighton’s foodie community to raise some money for a great cause. The funds raised will make a real difference to the children of Sussex who Rockinghorse support.’

Rockinghorse is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, with all proceeds made from the evening going towards improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable children in Sussex.
