48 hours in Brighton
Here is our list of the top things to do if you've got 48 hours in Brighton.
So, you’re on your way to Brighton and wondering what to do first! Here at The Grand we want our guests to get the most from their weekend away and so our wonderful concierge team are more than happy to look after your bags as soon as you arrive in town if you’re too early to check in, so the romance can start straight away.
In the morning
Brighton is known for its great boutique shopping opportunities so take a walk through the Lanes. A twisting, winding, cobbled floor warren bustling with restaurants, quaint tea rooms and traditional pubs. With independent high-end jewellers and tiny antiques shops, you can also discover a whole new world of different clothing stores you don’t see on your usual high street.
In the afternoon
Something you just cannot miss off your Brighton itinerary is a walk down the iconic Palace Pier, especially if you are a thrill seeker who would never pass on an opportunity for a go on a few roller coasters, and maybe the chance to win a prize at the arcade. It’s also an ideal spot if you just want to rest your feet after a day’s shopping, do a bit of people watching and munch on the delicious pier donuts or ice cream overlooking the sea. In the early evening, you’ll spot the stunning starling murmurations too.
In the evening
Book a sunset flight on the i360, watch the sun come down over the horizon and see how Brighton changes as the night draws in. Once you’ve touched down you can take the short 5 minute walk back to the hotel and enjoy a meal at our new restaurant Cyan, where you can watch our chefs cooking up a storm behind the bar and serving amazing Sussex charcuterie with our old school meat slicer. Chat with our talented bartenders about their seasonal concoctions and some of our unique, homemade ingredients, and ask your waiter about our locally sourced produce and some of their recommended pairings.
Your day is done but not yet over, come and take a seat in our luxury Victoria lounge and bar and enjoy a night cap, or if you’re still feeling buzzing from the day try some of our amazing cocktails and mocktails made exclusively by our extremely talented mixologists.
In the morning
After waking up from your slumber, emerge from our comfy beds and fluffy pillows and enjoy our delicious breakfast buffet. Sometimes the simplest things are the best, and a walk along Brighton’s beautiful beach is perfect at any time of the day to blow away the cobwebs. For the really early birds, watching the sunrise from the beach is a memorable way to start the day.
Later, jump on the number 7 bus for 10 minutes down to the marina, or if the sun is shining and you’re feeling a little daring then hop on a pay as you go bike and feel the wind in your hair as you mosey along the coast. At the marina you are spoilt for choice when it comes to food if you’re in the mood for a chilled pub lunch or something fancier! Take a walk around the shops and look out across the ocean taking in a great variety of the boats along the coast.
In the afternoon
A classic and an absolute must to give a couple of hours of your day to is an afternoon tea! Here at The Grand, our award-winning afternoon tea by the sea is designed by our Executive Chef Alan White, reflecting our identity and famous seaside setting. Guests can indulge in freshly made sandwiches, pastries, scones and cakes, as well as some delicious surprising treats bespoke to The Grand's famous tea. Plus, we’ve got over 30 teas to try (yes, we said 30).
And after you’ve indulged yourselves all you can, walk it off with a stroll along the shore and if you’re brave enough to, dip your toes in!
In the evening
If you’re looking for something a bit more unique, then why not see what’s on during your stay at Komedia? One of Brighton’s best known live entertainment venues. It’s a great chance to see local acts in an intimate setting be it at their regular Krater Comedy nights or live music. Or, if you’re pretty tired after a long weekend and wanted to relax a little you could also check out the Dukes At Komedia Picturehouse cinema just up the stairs and cosy up over some popcorn and a film.
